Is needed constant internet connection with normcore deployed on own hardware?

I am planning a full deployment on a site, meaning the server will be on the same LAN as the players. I have a few doubts that I couldn't find clarified in the documentation: 1. Is it possible to play the game without an internet connection as long as the server and the players are on the same local network? 2. If not, how often does the server need to be connected to the internet? Can the system tolerate constant micro-disconnections? 3. Where can I find more information about the internet connection requirements?

Hi @Dedado. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base. ---------------------- I'll address your questions about Normcore deployment on your own hardware: Local Network Deployment 1. Playing without internet connection: Yes, it's possible to play without an internet connection when using Normcore Private On-Premises. You can host Normcore on your own hardware within your local network, allowing players to connect to the server on the same LAN without requiring internet access. This is one of the key benefits of Normcore Private On-Premises, as it gives you "complete control over your data" Normcore Private. 2. Internet connection requirements: For a fully local deployment with Normcore Private On-Premises, constant internet connection is not required for gameplay once the system is set up. The documentation doesn't specifically address tolerance for micro-disconnections, but since you're hosting on your own hardware within your LAN, internet connectivity would only be needed for initial setup, updates, or if you're using any external services. 3. More information: For more details about network requirements, you can refer to the Firewalls + Corporate Networks section in the documentation Architecture > Firewalls. This provides information about the ports and protocols used by Normcore. Additionally, Normcore also offers an "Offline Mode" feature which allows for completely offline experiences: "Normcore supports connecting to an offline room which can be useful for singleplayer games, tutorials, and other experiences that don't require a connection to the internet" Room > Offline Mode. However, this is more suited for single-player experiences as "It's not possible to have two local clients connect to the same offline room." If you need more specific information about Normcore Private deployment requirements, I'd recommend reaching out directly to Normal through their contact page mentioned in the documentation: "Interested in Normcore Private? Reach out to us here". ---------------------- Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon: ----------------------

In the point 2. what you mean to "updates" in this sentence: " internet connectivity would only be needed for initial setup, updates, or if you're using any external services."

Normcore has a packet timeout of 5 seconds. If your disconnection is less than 5 seconds, it will stay connected #2 from the bot is wrong.
